43rd General Council Opening Mass Worship Service

General Council 43 Opening Mass Worship service 

Sunday, July 22 at 9:45 a.m. 

The United Church of Canada is encouraging all UCC churches to redirect Sunday worship services to GC43.  This is an opportunity to join with over 1,000 people in prayer and singing during this historic event!

 You have two choices for worship on this day…

  1. Go to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT)  campus located at 2000 Simcoe St. N, Oshawa for a large worship service with other United Churches.
  2. Come to Westminster to witness the Live Streaming of this historic worship service in our sanctuary on screen.

The GC43 Mass Opening Worship Service is on this Sunday, July 22,  located at UOIT/Durham College- 2000 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, ON L1H 7K4

at the Community Recreation and Wellness Centre (CRWC)

9:45 am – 12:30 pm

The Sunday Worship will begin at 9:45 am with the Indigenous Edge of the Woods Ceremony, which will be live streamed into the “village”.  Those involved in the “woods” ceremony will process from the woods into the village to join with those already seated, where the worship will continue.

It is recommended that you arrive between 9 a.m. and not later than 9:45 a.m., to get a seat in the CRWC (the “village”) – a mix of chair and bleacher seating

  • Parking in Founders Lots 1 or 2, Champions North or South Lots, or Commencement Lot
  • Round-about drop-off at Champions North for accessible entrance
